Seriously, I doubt it.
Hopefully it won the Best Retail Bank but not the Best Consumer Bank.
It is really obvious that they are riding on their egoism and does not require Malaysians to do business with them to survive.
Tell me, what do you need to open a basic savings account?
...
Money, identification card, and signature, right?
It is a basic savings account. Note the word, BASIC.
They want MYR 250, I brought 5k.
They want identification card, I have both photostat and original copy.
They want signature, I can give them both signature and thumbprint.
Finally, they want a reference letter to proof that I'm working as of now.
I don't have that, BUT...
I brought my EA form, I brought my payslip, I offered them my name card.
...
He refused to recognize it.
Can you believe that?
How difficult is it to check whether someone is working in the company or not?
Just pick up the phone and call the company general line lah...
Ask for the person name, surely they will say that please hold on..
bla bla bla...
Grrrr....
Ah, just vent out a piece of my mind right now.
HSBC... I'm just so disappointed with your so-call customer service executive.
Continue to ride on your own egoism and good luck!

They can also conduct a CTOS or CRISS check if they are not conviced by calling up your company.
Hmm HSBC is really that bad? I never knew.
Pardon my ignorance.
Not bad. Found out that different branches have different discretions.
Like, wtf?
Don't know if they have access to CCRIS because they are not local bank but their attitude is just unbearable.
Even reference letter requirement is too much. What about those self-employed people? Unemployed people? So they initial their own reference letter and submit to HSBC? What meaning does it bring?
Furthermore, there's no even a single customer on the customer service floor that day. He actually can take all his own sweet time to verify whether I'm working right now or not.
I am requesting them to give me a black and white copy of the requirements of the particular branch.
Grrrr.
Hmm - my parents complained about similar treatment as well
Everybody's complaining.
Unless you got enough wad of cash to start off a invitation only premier account.
